Mountain Manufacturing is a growing Medical Device component manufacturing company located in Lino Lakes, MN. Due to our growth, we are looking to add a 2nd Shift and are in need of Lathe/Mill-Turn Machine Operators to add to our production team.

Work schedule: 3:30pm-1:30am M-TH (4-10’s)

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the machine operator, the successful candidate will be a highly skilled professional, with excellent attention to detail and mechanical aptitude with experience operating Mazak 100, 200 and Integrex work centers.

CNC machine operators oversee our computer numeric controlled (CNC) machines. You will be responsible for ensuring our company produces quality parts and tools specific to engineering drawings and client standards by using existing programs and utilizing precision measuring instruments to inspect work.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Under the guidance of the department Machinist/Programmer, operate basic of specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations as assigned.
  • Strive for continuous improvement and work with high product integrity and be dedicated to act in accordance with the company’s safety and quality policies.
  • Consult with Lathe/Mill-Turn Machinist/Programmer concerning new/challenging product design and tooling needs to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Manufacture product to customer and industry standards and specifications.
  • Perform measurements and visual inspection checks on products, to detect malfunctions, aid in the troubleshooting process, and be aware of worn tools.
  • Calculate basic dimensions and/or tolerances.
  • Keep tools and work area clean and work centers in good operating conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure instructions.
  • Basic measurement of close tolerances.
  • Basic usage and understanding of inspection tools and interpretation of blueprints.
  • Mechanical and mathematical knowledge.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

  • Ability to use appropriate inspection methods, documentation practices, and utilize prevention/detection methods for every manufacturing task.
  • A keen eye for detail

POSITION SUMMARY

Conduct dimensional and visual inspections as required by component drawings, manufacturing instructions, and/or test instructions.

Perform 1st Article, In-Process and Final Inspections for components, sub-assembly, and final product release to the customer including approval of all defined requirements and documentation to release parts/components.

Complete records of inspection and test data as specified by written instructions and procedures.

Identify any potential non-conformance caused by parts that fail specifications or requirements and take appropriate action per procedural requirements. Review and approve certification of conformance and certification of analysis.

Inform the production team about quality control concerns to improve quality of the product and promote continuous improvement.

Provide Quality support to key processes and product development/improvement projects.

Support other functional area as needed.

Other tasks and duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

5 years’ experience working in medical device inspection, or related tight tolerance field.

Proficient in the utilization of hard gaging measuring equipment and vision systems including microscopes.

Greater understanding of the capability of measuring tools.

Experienced with engineering drawings and inspection requirements, for a wide range of complexities and compliances.

Confident and open personality who can communicate effectively, both written and orally with people at all levels.

CMM experience is a plus!

Good math and technical skills.

Strong understanding of quality control standards and testing techniques.

Positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Knowledge of Quality Systems, FDA regulations, ISO 13485 and applicable worldwide regulatory requirements.

Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in timely manner.

Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Skilled in product material specifications and the ability understand the print requirements.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our EDM specialists perform a role that consists of a variety of tasks that are vital to the medical device component manufacturing process. It requires highly skilled hands-on machining capability and excellent planning/communication skills to ensure that the many components going through the EDM process come together in the designated timeline so that the customer due date is hit.

  • Work from CAD files, engineering drawings, sketches and or verbal instructions to perform highly diversified hands-on machining operations to specifications.
  • Create and edit complex programs using CAD/CAM systems (Esprit/MasterCam), machine controllers and conversational programming including troubleshooting.
  • Meet production rates, scrap, quality, and safety requirements, by performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Use measurement and analytical skills to accurately measure in-process inspection and document results by using a wide variety of precision measuring instruments to assure high quality levels in component machining.
  • Make accurate machining adjustments to a variety of machining process to yield a conforming part.
  • Knowledge of machine shop practices, elementary mechanics, machining methods, cutting qualities of materials.
  • Ability to work to +/-.0001”
  • Interface with CNC machinists/programmers, polishers, QC Inspection, and other personnel to assist in the routing, planning, work instructions, problem solving, and expediting of components.
  • Train, guide, and monitor others as requested by the Operations Manager.
  • Keep area and equipment clean and in excellent running condition.
  • Participate in continuous improvements efforts to improve shop operations.
  • Follow systems processes for job tracking and recording.
  • Report all non-conformance conditions per company procedures.
  • Willingness to work between machining processes as needed (other duties as assigned).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Machinist/Machine Tool certificate, and/or a minimum 5 years of EDM experience with Mitsubishi work centers.
  • In-process inspection of parts using inspection tooling such as micrometer, caliper, gage- pins, vision systems (micro vu & optical comparator) etc.
  • Ability to run multiple machines and manage time independently.
  • Experience with or formal training in AutoCAD programming (ESPRIT / MasterCam) or equivalent experience to be proficient is preferred but will accept applicants without.
  • General knowledge of Solidworks software.
  • Proficient in mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and measurement and the ability to apply them to daily activities (machining, inspection, troubleshooting etc.).
  • Implement “outside the box” process improvements.
  • Skillful understanding of inspection tools and blueprint interpretation.
  • Experience with training and managing team members is a plus.
  • Effective writing and communication skills.
  • Close attention to accuracy and detailed oriented.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide solutions, support, and information in a manner that builds trust, confidence, and long-term business relationships with our customers and vendors.

Send quotations, processes POs, provide delivery updates, and manages various aspects of order processing and production operation by following the companies documented quality systems and processes.

Perform Contract Review process and develop a firm understanding of all sales orders requirements and identify customer needs including effectively communicating and resolve any discrepancies.

Process sales orders that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations by working with the Engineering team to establish manufacturing processes, create and maintain Job Travelers, including identifying and communicating critical product characteristics.

Bid out, order, and maintain vendor materials and services.  Build relationships with approved suppliers. Initiate, process and track internal Purchase Orders to suppliers and address any potential issues non-conformances with the Quality Team.

Prioritize work load and complete assigned duties efficiently and with adherence to deadlines.

Handle customer complaints by working with management and quality control to analyze information and evaluate the results to choose the best solution.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Understanding of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Ability to read basic blueprints including notes/material/surface treatments etc. in addition to comprehension of basic dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

Essential math skills: Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.

Familiarity with CNC machines and tools, including their designs and uses.

Ability to provide excellent customer service, including understanding customer needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

All candidates must demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and business common sense.
